Activity goal
“Picking Up Fallen Leaves” is suitable for learning the decomposition and composition of numbers within 10. This lesson plan takes 10 as an example and sets the activity goals as follows:
- Learn the decomposition and composition of 10, and experience the relationship between the total number and the number of parts;
- Learn the addition and subtraction of 10, and initially master the skills of addition and subtraction;
- Interested in exploring mathematical knowledge in life.
Activity process
Scenario introduction – the story of nesting
The birds were looking for a home. They came to the edge of the cliff, but the stone was hard and cold, and they were not warm at all, so they had to continue flying forward. We came to another small island, but the island was too small and there was not enough food, so we had to continue flying forward. They came to the forest and found a dense tree. The birds used grass, branches, and soil to build nests on the tree and prepare to make their home. Now you just need to add some fallen leaves to build the warmest bird home. However, they have flown so far and are so tired. Is there any children willing to help the birds pick up the fallen leaves and put them in the nest?
Learn the decomposition and composition of the number 10. (Large screen display of courseware)
★Birds have built nests on both sides of the big tree. Let’s visit the birds’ home. Look quickly. How many nests are there on each side? 10
★If 5 are hidden, how many are left on this side? There are 5 more, so 10 can be divided into 5 and 5; how many are 5 plus 5? 10
★If 4 are hidden, how many are left? There are 6 more, so 10 can be divided into 4 and 6, or 6 and 4. What is 4 plus 6? 10, what about 6 plus 4? Also 10. …(Finish the five ways of decomposing the number 10)
Leaf picking activity
★We have visited the bird’s home. Is the bird’s home complete now? It’s not complete yet, you still need to add fallen leaves to the nest. Now the children are working together to help the birds pick up fallen leaves and put them in the bird’s nest.
★There is a condition for picking up fallen leaves: each bird’s nest and fallen leaves have a password, and they can only be put together if the passwords are the same. Let’s try it.
★What is the password for this leaf? It says 6-4. Do children know what 6 minus 4 equals? You are all right, it is equal to 2. Come and find the bird’s nest whose password is 2. After finding it, put the leaves and the corresponding bird’s nest together. This is done and you can continue picking up new fallen leaves. Have you learned it?
★(Evaluation standards can be diversified, for example:)
1) Each table is divided into two groups. After picking up all the fallen leaves, the two groups check each other. The one with the most correct number wins;
2) Each table is a group, and there is no time limit. After picking up all the fallen leaves, the teacher will lead the whole class to check each group, and the one with the fewest mistakes wins;
3) Pick up fallen leaves within the specified time, and the one with the most correct number wins.
Summary
★With your help, the birds finally have their own warm home. Their home is stable and beautiful. The birds sing chirping songs to express their gratitude to the children! They said that they would like to ask the children to help next time! Are you willing?
★Through the activity of picking up fallen leaves, we learned the decomposition and composition of the number 10. Let’s review, how many and how many can 10 be divided into? (consolidate the knowledge learned)
★In addition to fallen leaves, let’s think about it, what other things or scenes in life can be used to help us learn the decomposition and composition of numbers? (Children’s speech, teacher’s summary) There are many, such as: petals, books, pens, fruits, toys… There are some actions that can also be used to learn the decomposition and composition of numbers, such as walking, clapping, jumping… Some scenes can also be used, such as Parks, playgrounds, zoos, underwater worlds… Mathematical knowledge is very interesting, and it is hidden in every corner of our lives.
